Hosting and content delivery network

This website is delivered via the network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Traffic between your browser and our website is technically routed through Cloudflare. Cloudflare protects the site against attacks and automated abuse and speeds up delivery.

In doing so, technically necessary cookies are set:

Language preference

This website is available in German and in English. Which version you see is entirely your choice, made via the switcher in the footer. No automatic redirection takes place.

If your browser is set to prefer German, we show a notice above the page pointing to the German version. This check happens entirely within your browser; the information is neither transmitted to us nor stored.

If you dismiss the notice, that decision is stored locally in your browser (local storage, key dgs-langbar) so that it does not appear again. No data is transmitted to us or to any third party in the process. You can delete the entry at any time via the site data in your browser.

Access data

We do not operate our own web server and do not keep our own log files. The website is delivered as a static service via Cloudflare.

For technical reasons, however, Cloudflare processes access data when the site is called up, including the IP address, the page requested, the date and time of the request and information about your browser and operating system. This processing is necessary in order to deliver the site and protect it against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

Cloudflare acts as our processor in this respect and stores this data only for a limited period. We do not retrieve this data ourselves and do not combine it with other sources.

Fonts and images

All fonts and images on this website are delivered directly from this service. No connection is made to Google Fonts or to any other external provider.

YouTube videos (only after consent)

Videos from YouTube are embedded on this website. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Simply opening the page does not establish any connection to YouTube. At first you only see a preview image that comes from this service itself. Only when you click a video and expressly agree in the notice that then appears is the player loaded and a connection to YouTube established.

In doing so, your IP address among other data is transmitted to YouTube. If you are logged into your Google account at the same time, YouTube may associate your browsing behaviour with that account. We use the extended privacy mode via the domain youtube-nocookie.com.

The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and § 25 (1) TDDDG.

Withdrawing your consent

If you select “Always allow YouTube from now on” in the notice, this decision is stored locally in your browser (local storage, key dgs-consent-youtube). No data is transmitted to us or to any third party in the process.

You can withdraw your consent at any time: via the “Privacy settings” link in the footer of the start page, which appears once consent has been stored, or by clearing the site data in your browser. The lawfulness of processing carried out up to the point of withdrawal remains unaffected.

Getting in touch

The tournament coverage enquiry form transmits no data to us or to any third party. Your entries stay in your browser: on submitting, all that happens is that your own email client opens with a pre-filled message. Whether you send it is up to you.

Once you do send us a message — via the form, by email directly or by phone — we process the details it contains: information about the tournament (name, date, location, sanctioning, number of players, layout), the scope you are interested in, your contact details (name, club, email address, phone number) and your message.

We use this data solely to process your enquiry and for follow-up questions relating to it. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where the enquiry is aimed at concluding a contract, and otherwise our legitimate interest in responding under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

We delete the data as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected, and at the latest after 24 months. Statutory retention obligations remain unaffected.

Your rights

You have the following rights with regard to the personal data concerning you:

You can withdraw consent you have given at any time with effect for the future.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany.

Changes to this policy

We update this privacy policy whenever changes to the services we use or to legal requirements make it necessary. The version available here applies in each case.
